Dominiek Viaene
Born on 5th October 1964, Dominiek Viaene is an ethical and business-driven entrepreneur in the healthcare sector. He is a proud father of three daughters. Dominiek’s educational background includes a Licentiate in Applied Economic Sciences from the University of Antwerp in 1986 and a degree in International Business Management from EHSAL Brussels in 1988.
Dominiek’s career began in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods sector at Unilever, Belgium, from 1986 to 1988. From 1989 to 2002, he worked in international sales and marketing consultancy for public and private companies, including advertising and government campaigning. His first investments as an owner and CEO in the medical world were in 2002, focusing on burns, and in 2006, addressing scars and neurodermatitis. Since 2015, he has been the owner and CEO of Protex Healthcare Group Holding, based in Belgium, with subsidiaries in the Netherlands, France, the UK, the USA, Qatar, and Nigeria.
Protex Healthcare West Africa, located in Abuja, is dedicated to the faster and better healing of complex wounds and burns, based on new objective knowledge. In Nigeria, beyond the wound and burn care product range, Dominiek has partnered with Fresenius Medical Care to improve access and quality of dialysis care, based on the accountability and performance of all actors involved. He is also a partner in bringing quick diagnostics and EU GMP pharmaceutical formulas to the Nigerian market for local development and manufacturing, aiming for better screening of healthcare issues before they become lethal.
Since 2022, Dominiek has been a member of the Belgian MEDVIA platform of companies, which aims to innovate the Belgian healthcare scene in view of the challenges of the next 25 years. He is focused on the durable improvement of quality of life and care for patients. As a strategic game-changer and out-of-the-box thinker, Dominiek is a bridge-builder, seeking holistic solutions for healthcare issues without replicating the mistakes made by the Western world over the last 50 years.
Dominiek is a fan of Nigeria because of its massive potential, the drive of some of its federal and state government officials, and the dreams of the people within his own Nigerian company team who strive for better healthcare for themselves and their children.
