Company description
At Koolboks, we design and manufacture solar-powered, energy-efficient refrigeration systems for off-grid and underserved communities. By combining solar technology, advanced energy storage, and a flexible Pay-As-You-Go model, we enable small business owners to access reliable refrigeration without large upfront costs.
Our systems use smart energy management technology, allowing users to make manageable mobile-based payments while benefiting immediately from dependable cold storage solutions. In addition, Koolboks freezers are equipped with IoT technology for remote monitoring, performance optimization, and predictive maintenance, ensuring durability and efficiency even in challenging environments.
Through our solutions, Koolboks helps reduce food waste, lower carbon emissions from diesel-powered cooling, and strengthen local food supply chains across underserved communities.

Project pitch
At Koolboks we are showcasing our solar-powered refrigeration solutions designed to address the lack of reliable cold storage across Sub-Saharan Africa. Limited access to refrigeration continues to drive significant post-harvest losses and income instability for small businesses, particularly in the food value chain.
Our solution combines solar-powered freezers with flexible financing models, enabling SMEs to access clean and reliable cooling without upfront cost barriers or dependence on diesel. This reduces operating costs while improving business productivity and resilience.
At the Nigeria–EU Business Forum, Koolboks is seeking strategic investment and partnerships to scale distribution, strengthen local assembly and supply chains, and expand access to financing for end-users. The focus is on accelerating market penetration in Nigeria and other high-growth markets.
The project aligns with climate and development priorities by reducing food waste, lowering carbon emissions, and supporting income generation for underserved communities.
